Bought a Suzuki CP 80 during the summer to do a 3 mile trip to work on sunny days and WOW what a buy. Paid 240 pounds for it, does 100 mpg costs 15 pound a year to tax. Ok I retreat to the car ( '93 520i ) on wet day and the roads are not crowded on my trip to work. But instead of going through my bank account for petrol money I go through my pockets. (four pounds fills the tank)

2 wheels good, 4 wheels increasingly expensive. Bike on!

Excellent choice for a shorter journey. I used to run about on a Honda VT250 that was fairly quick for a small engined motorbike yet did 75mpg.

Even a bigger bike has some impressive stats.

My current ZZR600 (1994)
Top speed 160 (allegedly)
0-100mph 7 sec
57mpg
The latter 2 are my own stats tested by me (0-100 actually was on a track....really!)
Have owned for 11 years, has needed nothing other than servicing.

Wish I lived only 3 miles from work, I'd cycle - rain or shine. I do 15 miles per pie. Not sure if that's cheaper than 100mpg......?

I've got an EG Bates racer I bought in 1972. Very rusty but it took me on a few mile jaunt to deliver stuff. I suppose that's Bikernomics...
