I bought this 1995 Rover 420GSi (200/400 Series known as the R8 by Rover) for £80 (the vendors asking price) as his wife couldn't drive it anymore as she has a dodgy hip and couldn't press the clutch down. It had no MoT but it did have a good history, only 84k and a months tax.
Stuck it in for the MoT and it failed on both CV boots, which had perished but not split, so I replaced them and then got its new MoT. It really was in nice condition inside and out and drove lovely and I wanted to keep it, but I was offered £600 for it, so I took it! But if I'd have kept it it would only have owed me £198, and most of that was for one and a half MoT's! Even at £600 it's a nice cheap car
Anyway, that Rover will give years of good service if maintained properly and I know those 2.0 T-Series engines are good for 200k, and you rarely see a rusty one. Nice cars.
Kev.
