PostSubject: Vauxhall Corsa 1.4 8v   Thu Oct 20, 2016 4:32 pm

Just bought this from my uncle. He bought it by mistake at a farm sale. Its in great condition. Hole in the spare wheel well. Gonna change the timing belt and head gasket as its got a slight oil leak. Only a months mot but has only done 1500 miles since the last one and has had a new exhaust and 4 new tyres. Its only done 77k. Will just store it till next year. Will miss the fiesta tho Sad

Head gasket done. Was really easy. still need to change the water and oil. Car probably needs a days welding lol. Its hardly worth it really. I don't know whether to mot it now and stick it up for sale and get another fiesta or to mot it next year and keep or give it to my father. Iv got a little attached to my fiesta but that has problems not worth bothering with and from experience when you start fixing things it all goes wrong and you need to keep spending as you've invested in it.

My fathers gonna take the corsa on now. Will be ideal for him as its like a little estate.

So im looking for another car again. Sorted of decided on a 1.8 tdci Focus mk2 or a Astra H 1.7 cdti. Tho really don't know what to do.

Iv just been working it out. Buying a diesel will only work out 6 a week cheaper for me. When you think newer diesels are problematic (well around the grand mark) and are dearer to buy and are all high miles in the same price range is it worth it? The problem iv got is I want some luxuries in a car now as my journeys are nearly a hour and sitting in traffic at times. Money is really tight for me at the moment. Iv always had basic cars. Just fancy something nicer.

biggest luxury I like for sitting in traffic is an auto box but prob wont add to the economy

Got a mate with a auto astra I drive sometimes. Could get used to it and it makes a nice change. But don't like it in other ways.

Corsa is on the ramps ready to weld. I could only make one hole in it. The rear of the outer sill needs a patch. Also the boot well needs repairing. Iv rust converted all surface rust underneath. Will waxoyl and underseal bits. Might try and sell this car as its in really good nick. Maybe even a future classic?

People tell me the newer ones are actually more economic than manuals, but perhaps that tech hasn't reached banger status yet.
