PostSubject: Ford fiesta Mk3.5 MOT pass   Fri Apr 04, 2014 2:26 pm

Well she passed the mot guys. a couple of advisories but nothing serious. Might need to keep an eye out for a cheap back box tho as the one thats on her is abit crispy. I paid 132 for her on ebay with no mot needing welding but with only 48k on the clock. Spent a couple of hours on the welding bargain i think. Iv also changed the oil and filter, the air filter and spark plugs. Checked the tappets but they didnt need adjusting so it has been serviced well in the past. The sills underneath have been undersealed and so has the floor just got to do the boot floor and chassis legs there at some point. She should last a while looking at the condition underneath and how tidy it is.

Pictures to follow.

Well iv used a tank of fuel already. Worked out mpg at 45.6 but it wont be accurate till iv ran more fuel through it. If it stays that high im gonna be well impressed. Its only abit lower than my 59plate citroen c2 that iv just replaced it with. Fixed the rear brakes aswell. It stops really well. I only freed up the wheel cylinder with wd40 and kept pushing it in and out. Car drives really well tho the wheels need balancing as it shakes at 70mph. Heres a picture of the car before i bought it.[img][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][/img]

Well the fiesta has done over 2500 miles since iv had it and its running great. We went to Snowden the other week and added 700miles in 4 days. Car returned 48mpg which is amazing. The only problem iv had with it was the starter motor was dirty and when it was hot it would take 2 turns to engage. Only found this out when i was away. All sorted inabit 15mins with a old toothbrush and some petrol. So much prefer this car to old my old 59 plate c2, It still looks clean and tidy and people say its a good car.

Hi guys, just a little update, had to replace the brake pads at a staggering 9 for some new old stock ones. Car stops better than ever! Went on a camping trip and the girlfriend reversed it into a wall 😦 but a quick pull on the valance seems to of made it look better. Just a dent and a crease in it and a line on the bumper. On returning from camping the car got its revenge by having a flat battery, thats queer I thought as the battery was new. So I charged it up and diagnosed the alternator bearing as it was rough to turn, noisy and drained the battery in certain positions, so in true bangernomics turns I robbed the alternater out of my cousins spare car. Cars back running perfectly and has got some more long journeys to complete. Iv given it another oil change which means iv done 6k in it. Iv just used the cheapest 20w40 I could get. Car seems to run better and hasnt used any oil since. Tho I cant see why its running better. Iv also rubbed backed painted and waxoyled the rusty looking bits, so she should be around longer yet.

Iv had to do some welding on the girlfriends ka but thats nice and easy. Also gave that the same paint and rust treatment and sprayed the body up abit as its a good car.

You'll have to let us know what you think when you get it. I'm rather curious.

I can completely see why you want one, but...er...what is an off-roader with no room in it actually for?

I'd have thought its market was a bit too small a niche for commercial success.

Still, looks nice. Hope you have good luck with it.

You should have told Suzuki 20 years ago. They found out the hard way.

Sorry late up date. Used the car for 2 trials so far. Its really good. Finished the Lands End trial and came joint 3rd in class. Also done another trial called the Bovey Down and came second in class.

Its being a great daily aswell and i enjoy driving it. Gonna give it an oil change and abit of rust proofing soon then itll stay rust free.
