Having just given my old BMW a service and a polish, I thought I'd post a couple of pics:

I've had this over seven years now. The best 500 I've ever spent.

That looks very nice indeed. Always liked the E30's ever since I worked on them in the eighties.

Thanks guys.

I was looking for Saab 900 at the time - late 80's or early 90's model - but saw this advertised in the back of the local paper with the same dialling code as where I was living, so I thought it's not far away I might as well have a look. With a full BMW service history and 85,000 on the clock it was too good not to have. Sometimes you just drop lucky.

I try to stick rigidly to the service schedule, and use mainly OEM parts and good quality oil. Apart from the usual fluids, filters and plugs, it's had:
2 timing belts
2 sets of tyres
1 complete exhaust system
1 battery (the only time the car let me down)
Disi cap, rotor arm and HT leads
Full brake overhaul (disks, pads, drums, shoes, rear cylinders, hoses and copper pipes)
Rear shocks, front strut inserts, strut top mounts and various suspension bushes
Prop centre bearing
... and a few odds & sods like wiper blades and bulbs

One of the great things about cars of this era is that I can do all the maintenance myself.
I reckon servicing and maintenance costs average less than 300 a year for parts. Compare that with my brother-in-law just paid 750 to have his 5-year old 3-series serviced at the stealer.

This is definitely a long term keeper.

NICE
I reckon the fact it is AuTo probably put some potential buyers off
Meaning that you got a STEAL at the price
