Very sorry to hear that, the E34 is my favourite and I've got a petrol 525i with leather and everything which cost 1300 and is still going really well and so comfy. The thought of changing it, the auto gearbox is getting lazy, scares me a bit as I have no idea what to buy next...

PostSubject: Fiesta on it's last legs..   Tue Aug 21, 2007 3:46 pm

My Fiesta's on it's last legs.

Had it since the sad death (tinworm) of my beloved Primera Estae.

It's always been a pig to drive, and I suspect that it has NO chance of passing another MOT.

SO, unless I get my Micra Goldstar going again, I'm going to be looking for a new banger.

BTW... when I say banger, I mean less than 350... with T&T!

E34 still with this, even repaired air con, how very unbangernomic with a tin of stop leak type stuff, which has worked! Gearbox getting lazy, great on long journeys but requires concentration in town. Still at least it is never boring.

PostSubject: Fiesta Update   Tue Aug 28, 2007 3:36 pm

Hmm. Maybe not quite dead yet..

Did a 65-mile round-trip to the seaside yesterday, up hill and down dale. Bank Holiday traffic as well.
(almost) Didn't miss a beat. (Dodgy throttle response).

Used it, as I discovered last Friday that the MOT was due on the Micra.. (92 repairs, after shopping around).
Damned bad planning.

At least you are keeping going which is the main thing and under a hundred to tease through an MOT when replacing would cost you a heap more is again the way to do it...

Hmm. Bit of a mystery here. I charged up the battery, squirted some cheap WD40 stuff about, and it started fine. I ran it for 15 minutes, and it didn't cut out. None of the loud clicking, none of the laboured turning over.. WHY?

... and now it won't start.

Turns over live a mad thing. (Yes, I've checked that the engine is actually turning, it's not just the starter..)

But no go!

PostSubject: It gets stranger..   Mon Nov 26, 2007 11:16 am

It now starts first time, every time.
I have no idea why.

Still cuts out as soon as it gets warm, though. DAMNIT! Evil or Very Mad
Also, I now have the V5C for the car (cost me 25, due to flakey previous owner. Shouldn't complain, as he gave me the car for nowt..)

So, once I get around to it, I can transfer my insurance from the Festa (SIC), I can tax it, and use the money I got for the Festa (SIC) to put it back on the road.

* The Festa (SIC) failed it's MOT on rust. Quoted 200 for the repairs. Sold to a youngster for 110, as he had a mate with a welder. He gets a cheap runabout, I get to move on.. I actually hated that car. It was rubbish, and reinforced all my previous hatred of Fords, gained back in the Capri/Cortina era.

As a result, I have been using the train to commute. Rather worryingly, I find that I actually like it. No hassles parking, etc..

Glad you are back on board. Worried about the train thing, but I went to London the other day and couldn't face paying Ken money so parked outside the zone and went in on the train. Then later on got back in car and drove into the zone after 6pm for free. Then went home. Complicated.
