Ive got the 2001 1.8 mk3 estate, and i have to be honest, iv'e bought a sold a lot of cars over the years, and this has to be one of the best family workhorse do it all cars iv'e ever had!

Granted I bought it at 10 years old with 122,000 miles and full ford service history for 775, its had a new clutch recently but its done nearly 130,000 now and other than yearly servicing its never missed a beat.

Although id like something a little nicer it has a couple of dents now too, i cant bring myself to part with it, its a fantastic car! and supprisingly economicall.

Aparrently some people are reporting brimming the tank and getting over 620 miles on a run with at least a gallon left in the tank!

Why bother with a Diesel, Ive even sold these to cabbies who are sick of the problems with the TDCI, the TDDI is better i think, anyway good luck with it

Thanks , great info Badshot Bow

I wouldn't have a diesel, just don't like them, and I only do up to 200 miles a week.

It will be several months before I start looking and very likely I could change my mind.

Going back to mark ii's I had a ST estate too, the 2.5 V6 170 bhp one, great old car liked a drink but I always say if your not doing the miles you can have just about anything!
