PostSubject: Ethanol in fuel   Mon Feb 04, 2013 11:47 am

Im a tad foggy on this, but Looking on google n such
Im seeing petrol companies are shoving 10 % ethanol in our fuel
Im only questioning this as my good bud runs a 3.0 essex capri and has massive problems with
rotting fuel hoses, running probs, etc, looked up in the VOSA and such like forums,
and the ethanol maybe updated to 15 % is this true?
can this be a problem on old motors? IE pre 2000 wagons??

yeah ethonal eats natural rubber which most older cars fuel pipes are made of I did look into this at one stage and it looked like you would need to replace all your fuel lines so at that point was thinking of braided steel race style pipes that where 100% ethonal safe and it was gona cost a fortune. It is another way to get old cars off the road they did it with leaded petrol not adding ethanol to cook your car as it eats the fuel line and this then drips on to a hot engine poof where is the marshmallows while you wait for the fire engine

what about silicone rubber?

I know a lot replace their hoses with silicone ones these days first they try and destroy heads and valve guides with unleaded now they are filling it with stuff to eat our hoses Headbang
