Hi. My name is Alex, I'm 31, and although I sell nearly-new cars for a Ford Main dealer I am partial to the odd banger. When I'm not driving a company car I'm seen blezzing about in one of these 'handsome' relics.

This is my most recent acquisition, a 1984 Mk3 Escort Estate with a 1.6 CVH smoker. I bought her a few weeks ago from eBay. Up until last year she only had one owner, but unfortunately no history. Since the photo was taken the dents have been knocked out, the interior valeted and Euro-plates ditched. Cambelt change is next along with some paint restoration.

This, believe it or not, is my pride and joy. I love my Allegro just because it's so unusual, so querky, attracts huge attention and raises a smile where ever I go. Every time I stop for fuel, park up or even slow down I'll be approached by people with a story to tell, with memories to share or just wanting to know more about her. Amazingly the comments and stories are always so positive. I bought her at the end of 2011 unseen on eBay for 720. I traveled on train to Halifax to collect, then drove her home to Maidstone Kent at a steady 55mph which took about 6 hours. The Mot has just been completed at a cost of 620 due to a weld-a-thon and long list of niggles. Still, it's an appreciating classic and in my eyes worth every penny.

Lastly, I have this sat in the garage awaiting completion. It's a 1990 Rover Metro Gti. Not really a car for bangernomics as it's being built as a road legal track day car. I won't bore you with all the details, but she's fitted with a 1.8 VVC 160 K-series, ecu remap, custom (but subtle) exhaust and brake & suspension mods. Inside is stripped out, with a rollcage & one seat with harness. I want to keep her looking as standard as I can, but lack of winter enthusiasm means progress is slow...

Thanks for reading, I look forward to chatting bangernomics....

Welcome impressive collection @ 31yrs old Smile

That Allegro is rare but love the Metro GTi. I rented a 1.1 Rover Metro when they were new. At least I thought it was a 1.1 but I could not get over how fast it was.
