Sorry if you need back seats for kids because this aint the car for you......

If you're looking for some serious but cost efficient fun behind the wheel with a few simple checks you really cannot go wrong with a 1.7 Ford Puma. Loads around at the moment so parts are cheap.

I've been running mine now for 2 years. I've done the rusty rear arches, polybushed the rear suspension, , changed the cambelt, changed the clutch this weekend plus some other bits and pieces but these really are reliable, cheap and fun.

I've only ever clocked the mpgs once on a trip from Derbyshire to Inverness and it did a whopping 43.4mpg. Lets just say i wasn't hanging around.

It'll be heading down to southern Spain in March for a summer in the Costa's so it needs to be reliable.

A few pics from when I changed the rear wheel arch.

I can't comment on the 1.4 or 1.6's but the 1.7 is brilliant fun. Theres little point in my opinion in the 1.4 or 1.6 when the 1.7 is so damn good.

1000 gets you one worth owning. I paid a grand for mine with 70k on the clock, 1 owner and FULL service history.
